1. Test

Free, No Obligation Price for Your Building.

To understand your situation and accurately design a system, if needed, a radon test should be completed. This can be done through either a home test or by a licensed professional. The professionals tend to be more accurate and are usually used for any property sale or refinancing.

DuPage Radon Contractors does not do testing.

Professional Testers

Professional testers are licensed through and regulated by, the Illinois Emergency Management Agency. Tests usually range between $100 and $300 per home.

DIY Tests

Self-tests are usually $35-$65 each. They are available in local home centers and hardware stores.

2. Design & Bid

We can arrange for a trained radon system designer to come to the building, to investigate possible system locations and design a system. The System Designer can explain the system and usually provide you the price and proposal while at the building. This process usually takes 30-50 minutes. The process can be completed for a vacant property with the information emailed, but it is helpful if you can be at the property during the design process.

To
Schedule

A system installation can be scheduled by calling or by filling out our contact form to indicate your interest.

Before
Installation

Please empty any crawl space(s). In all unfinished basement rooms, move items 2 feet away from outside walls and off large floor cracks. Washers, dryers, and attached shelves can remain. All areas of the building may need to be accessible. Please have payment ready for installers.

During
Installation

The work is usually completed in one day. The work can be noisy and mildly dusty. Workers will go back and forth and in and out of the building. All trash created by our team will be taken away. Pipes in unfinished areas may be exposed.

4. Radon Retest

Wait at least 24 hours after the installation to perform a post-test,. If the original test was performed by a professional tester, it may make sense to consider using that same provider for the post-test. They usually charge a little less because they already have a diagram of the building. Also, if you are selling the home, and the buyer chose the first tester, picking the same provider reduces any chance that the buyer questions the validity of the tester you chose, because it was the tester THEY chose. DuPage Radon Contractors does not do testing. There is a company called DuPage Radon Testing that does testing.

DIY Tests

These are available online or at Home Depots and Menards in the area.  There is typically a charge for the test and a separate charge when you send the unit in to the lab. Follow the directions carefully..

Professional Testers

Professional testers are licensed through, and regulated by, the Illinois Emergency Management Agency.  Tests usually range between $100 and $300 per home.
